When I met George and Bronwyn I knew their wedding day was going to be so much fun. George is part of a band who play ‘bandaoke’ nights, which if it’s not immediately obvious, is karaoke but with a live band, If you don’t think that’s the most awesome idea ever then perhaps you shouldn’t read on!
Bronwyn stole George’s heart when she was out with a friend who convinced her to sign up for bandeoke. She sang a song that would later become ‘their song’ forever more. That song was ‘gay bar’ by electric six. Bronwyn told George it was completely inappropriate and banned it from the wedding. Little did he know that she secretly had their band learn it to play immediately after their first dance, look out for the shock on George’s face in their highlights video below.
Bronwyn and George said no to tradition and planned a wedding that reflected their personalities and love for each other. George’s band played a song during the ceremony instead of a reading, there was a bouncy castle, ice cream van, decorate a rubber duck competition and a pair of golden dinosaurs on top of a tower of doughnuts, because why not?
In a world where women are kicking butt, it was beautiful to see Bronwyn walk down the aisle without a man on her arm. She had so much elegance and grace as she walked towards George beaming at him, unlike George’s sister who nearly took a tumble down the aisle moments earlier! It obviously runs in the family as George had his own oops moment and dropped the ring mid vows. I always tell couples things are bound to go wrong and that they often help to relax you as you can break the tension with some laughter, but that took it a bit too far George!
All too often wedding speeches are filled with jokes about the groom punching above his weight and how stunning and wonderful the bride is. George and Bronwyn’s speeches weren’t lacking in those types of lines and they certainly aren’t afraid to have a laugh at each other’s expense, but Bronwyn made her own speech because she wanted to tell everyone how fantastic her groom is. When Bronwyn talks about George it’s hard not to get emotional. She said that every day for her is perfect because they ‘start and end with your smiley face and a kiss.’ It’s words like those that remind us all that it’s the small things in our relationships that really count.
In the beginning stages of editing a wedding video I go through and delete most of the footage where people aren’t smiling or laughing. That was only a small task for this wedding, George and Bronwyn laughed with each other all day long and their laughter is infectious. I wish them both a life time of happiness which I’m sure they will have with the true love they share and the family and friends that surround them.
